Shin guard measurement
Have the player sitting down with their leg bent at 90 degree angle
and wearing a skate. Measure from the middle of the kneecap to the
top of the ice skate boot. Make sure to measure all the way to the
top of the boot, and not to the top of the tongue of the skate.
This measurement is the length of the shin guard you should purchase.
Refer to the image on the right for help with this measurement.
A player’s kneecap should fit directly in the middle of the kneecap cup
of the player’s shin pad. The shin pad should then extend down the full
length of the lower leg. It is also important to make sure the shin pad
isn’t too long. If it is to long, the skate will push it up
out of position. Shin guards should be tightened with the shin guard
straps. The shin guard straps can also be secured with tape.
Please consult the chart below with the measurements to find the fit you need.
